Malting and Brewing Technology
We offer a 4 week international MSc level course on Malting and brewing technology. The course (in English) includes several pratical sessions (including brewing your own beer in our 5 hl. pilot brewery).
Genetics and genomics
We combine theory and experiment to investigate how biological systems work. Our research lies on the broad intersection of genetics, genomics, computation, biochemistry and molecular cell biology. We translate our findings into applications for the fermentation (beer, wine, bread, chocolate, ethanol) industry.
Malting & Brewing Technology
LIBR turns brewery concepts into mainstream solutions, from basic and applied research through scale-up services. We provide breweries and malt houses with a range of services aimed at optimizing beer and malt quality and operational efficiency, including evaluation of raw materials and process parameters.
Work with us
The most innovative beer worldwide
We can produce prototype beers for evaluation and design and develop the process needed to produce your new beer, including selecting a suitable yeast strain, malt, adjuncts, hops and process. The combination of a created superior yeast strain with an exquisite aroma profile and innovative brewing technology led to the development of 'Surplus' beer (a fruity 6% Blonde).
Using state of the art metagenomics techniques we focus on complex microbial community and ecosystem ecology of both natural and engineered ecosystems with an emphasis on the survival and spread of potential pathogens and spoilage organisms.
Service & Consultancy
LIBR provides services ranging from in-house consultancy to innovative research & development projects aimed at optimising quality and operational efficiency. Our analytical facilities are designed and fully equipped to serve the malting and brewing industry. Read more >>
